PIKE'S PEAK FROM PILOT KNOB
One of the surprising feats of modern build-
ing is the cog railroad, built from Manitou to
the summit of Pike's Peak. The elevation at
the point where the road begins is 6,309 feet.
The summit is 14,109 feet above sea level. Thus
the cog road climbs nearly 3,000 feet in its jour-
ney to the summit, which covers a distance of
about fifteen miles. The picture shows the road
as it scales the lower parts of the mountain, with
the snow-capped peak, its ultimate goal, visible
in the distance.
Yesterday morning we took The-
circle drive an Laura andl
chimed The steps do Seven
Falls Ironed when we were
at The top and we descended
in rain. In the afternoon went
to The Rodeo, (horse races and
a sort of wild west contests
horses, and
between men,
gottle) It was Thrilling Ethe.
Thunder showers all day.
