CORNWALLIS' CAVE, YORKTOWN, VA.
Tradition alleges that this cave was used by Lord
Cornwallis as a safe refuge in time of danger.
It may
have been used by him as a magazine for the storage of
ammunition, but we decline to believe that this gallant
and brave English officer would stoop to any such
cowardly act. It was, no doubt, built and used by
smugglers.
