| Located on Adams Drive across the Mall between 9th and 12th Sts., S.W. The Institute was founded in 1846 to increase and diffuse knowledge among men, by the will of James Smithson, and English Scientist. It was built in the manner of a Norman Castle of the 13th Century. |
