Shelton, Washington nestles between trees and the waterfront while spreading to Hillcrest adjacent to Interstate 101. A community of 7,660 Shelton is the only incorporated city in Mason County, named in 1864 in honor of Honorable Charles H. Mason, first Washington secretary. Shelton, originally named Sheltonville by David Shelton in 1855, had it's city plat recorded in 1884. Mount Rainier looms in the east at 14,410 feet. |
