Additional Details:
Elizabeth City, N. C. is located on Pasquotank River and is one of the most historic parts of the U. s. A. Nearby is the Dismal Swamp Canal surveyed by George Washington in 1763. Also close is Roanoke Island where in 1584 the followers of Sir Walter Raleigh landed and here in 1587 Virginia Dare, the first white child in the U. S., was born of English parentage. Nearby and accessible by a newly constructed bridge across Currituck Sound is Kill Devil Hill, where the Wright Brothers experimented with the first aeroplane, and at this place the government has erected a massive monument in commemoration of them.
