This imposing memorial to George Washing-
ton, the Mason, 333 ft. high, overlooks the cits
of Washington to the north and Mt. Vernon
to
Alexandria, which city he helped to plan. The
building of unusual architecture, modelled after
the ancient towers which were used as beacons
to guide mariners, houses a priceless collection
of memorabilia of Washington, including many
articles closely connected with his career in the
Masonic order. Built by the George Washington
Masonic National Memorial Association, cost
$4,000,000.
