Finback Whale

| A 56 foot Finback Whale that swam onto the Brewster Flats on May 28th, 1963. A team from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution pushed off in an eight foot pram and herded it into deeper water. But the whale swam around the pram and drove itself onto the shallows again, where it slowly died. A. U.S. Coast Guard boat eventually towed it out to sea on a high tide. |
