Additional Details:
The Golden Ball Tavern on the Boston Post Road in Weston, Massachusetts was built in 1751 by Colonel Jones. Headquarters of the Tories during the Revolutionary War, it was the site of the near capture of John How, a British spy. How was sent by General Gage from Boston to report on rebel ammunition stores. He escaped to Worcester. The Weston patriots' alertness however led How to report to Gage that troop movement in this area would lead to defeat. As a result, the fateful line of march through Lexington was chosen.
