To commemorate the surrender of a large body of Indians and the release of 269 captives, mostly women and children, Sept, 20th 1802. The result mainly of the signal victory over the hostile Sioux Indians at Sioux Indians at Wood Lake by Minnesota troops under command of Gen. Henry H. Sibley. All being incidents of the Great Sioux Indian Monument.
