| John Smith was born in Willoughby, England, in January, 1579. After much travel, he finally came to America, arriving at Cape Henry on April 26th, 1607, and although he spent but 2½ years in Virginia, his name is linked most prominently with its history. He died in England on June 21st. 1631, as recorded on a monument in St. Sepulcher's Church, London. |
