The Space Shuttle Orbiter
Discovery lifted off from Launch Pad 39A at the Kennedy Space
Center for its maiden flight. The six-day mission included the
deployment of three communications satellites: LEASAT-2 (also
known as Syncom IV-2), SBS-D, and Telstar 3-C.
