Additional Details:
The Atomic Energy Commission's billion-dollar gaseous diffusion plant is just west of Paducah in McCracken County. The plant employs about 1,650 persons, and is one of the vital plants in the nation's atomic program. More than 25,000 construction workers built the plant in 1951-54. Union carbide Nuclear Company, a division of Union Carbide Corporation, operates the plant for the Atomic Energy Commission.
