NEAR FT. WASHAKIE, WYOMING, is the grave of
Sacajawea in the cemetery named in her honor, on
the Shoshone and Arapahoe Indian Reservation. The
Shoshone Indian woman guided Lewis and Clark in
their expedition across the continent, 1805-1806.
She died April 9, 1884. A peak in the Bridger range
is named for her. In the city of Portland, Oregon,
there is a statue of Sacajawea.
