WIRE-HAIRED FOX TERRIER was first shown in
1869. Ten years later the standard for the breed
was set by the Fox Terrier Club of England, and
was adopted by the American Fox Terrier Club in
1885. The average height is about 15% inches,
average weight is 18 pounds. Terriers are very
lively, untiring dogs. They were originally used to
force foxes and rodents out of their underground
homes. Today they are extremely popular, both as
a show dog and pet.
