| Oldest restaurant west of the Mississippi; still open seven days a week (noon buffet a specialty). It was built in 1857 by Seth Hays. Its original appearance has been preserved. Mr. Hays, Daniel Boone's great-grandson, left Westport, Missouri, in 1847 to found Council Grove. |
