ST. FIDELIS CHURCH, "CATHEDRAL OF THE
PLAINS," Victoria, Kansas. This mighty edifice
with its twin towers, completed in 1878 stands as
a monument of devoted faith. Erected by German-
Russian immigrants who came for religious freedom,
to escape the czar's army, and farmlands. Their
faith, thrift, and industrious character continues
in their descendants.
