Additional Details:
St. Nicholas Breaker of the Phila. And Reading coal and iron Co. This breaker is one of the most modern breakers in the anthracite Coal Region. It is located in the valley among the mountains between Shenandoah and Mahanoy City, in the heart of the Anthracite Coal Region of Pennsylvania. the breaker building is in the center with the spider work of an electrical sub-station in the foreground. The long inclined plane rising up the mountain side conveys impurities cleaned from the coal in this preparation plant to a gigantic hopper where a dump train loads it for deposit on the refuse banks. In the distance is the thin line of a similar conveyor serving one of the preliminary cleaner plants auxiliary to this breaker. The rated capacity of this breaker is 12,500 tons daily.
