The FRENCH ASYLUM was established by a
group of French Royalists who fled from the Revo-
lution in 1793. They built a town of some 50
houses and erected the largest log cabin that was
ever built, calling it the Queen's House and hoping
that the unfortunate Queen Antoinette might here
find safety.
