combining the primitive and the Artists of to-
day, whose exhibition rank first in America
and may be seen daily.
The building is a perfect type of Mission
Architecture dating back to 1617, being 152
years older than the oldest Missions of
California.
It was built as a monument to the Franciscan
Martyrs of the 17th and 18th Centuries. A set
of Murals illustrate the story of St. Francis.
