Total length of bridge and approaches, 5.7 miles; total vertical clearance above average water level, 176 feet. Total distance from top of steel super-structure to water level, 230 feet. Width of roadway between railings, 25½ feet. Distance from center to center of main piers, 680 feet. Main span clearance, 600 feet. Material used: 1500 pilling, 50,000 barrels of cement, 23,000 cubic yards of sand, 42,000 cubic yards of gravel, 9,285 tons of structural steel, 1,906 tons re-inforcing steel. Total cost of bridge and approaches, $2,75,000. This bridge is the highest bridge in the South.
