built in 1923 at a cost of $1,025,000 from funds
secured by sale of ticket scrip for seats cover-
ing games 10 years in advance; can seat in
excess of 80,000 people. It is a memorial to
the sons of the University of California who
fell during the World War. From the upper
portion an excellent view is had over San
Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate, and sur-
rounding East Bay territory.
