The great religious festival of Taos is held annually on September 30th. It is one of the best known in New Mexico and is largely attended by white visitors, Added to these are thousand of Mexicans, and Pueblo Indians. As part of the festival, there is usually a spirited foot race between the Indians of the North and South, the losing party paying the dues of the Pueblo to the priest for ensuing year |
