SOLDIERS' & SAILORS' HOME. One of the oldest 10829
state institutions in the Commonwealth of Penn-
sylvania, dedicated to the care of United States
Veterans. Originally built to care for the G.A.R.
and is now housing veterans of the Spanish-
American War, the Boxer Rebellion and other
federal engagements, as well as the Great World
War. It is located opposite the entrance to Erie
Harbor on a bluff overlooking the harbor at Presque
Isle (Pennsylvania State Park).
