It is called the Insurance City, due to the fact that every Insurance company of note has its main offices in Hartford. One of the largest insurance companies in the world, The Travelers Insurance Company, has erected an imposing structure here which ranks in height with some of the tallest buildings of New England. The State House is a beautiful building erected in 1880 at a cost of $3,100,000. The city has many parks; Bushnell Park and Elizabeth Park are among the largest.
