The Soldiers' National Cemetery, Gettys- BB
burg, Pa.-The Soldiers' National Ceme
tery covers 17 acres of ground on the high-
est point on Cemetery Hill. The dead lie
in sections, each representing one of the
eighteen Northern States to which the sol-
diers belong. There are also three sections
of unknown dead and one of the U. S.
Regular Army, making in all 22 sections.
No fairer resting-place for a nation's heroes
could be conceived. Here lie the bodies of
3555 slain, of whom 979 are unknown.
