Japanese Pavilion
Additional Details:
New York World's Fair 1939. The Classic Shinto shrine of the third century B. C. - considered the purest of original Japanese architecture - served as model for the Japanese Pavilion. The Style is known as "Shimmei-zukuri". Simplicity and the arrangement of horizontal lines convey an impression of purity. The structure as a whole, because of its proportions, makes a noble spiritual effect, not unlike that of a classic Greek temple. |
