Originally proposed during World War II by students from Dearborn High School who repeatedly stormed City Hall complaining that "Once you've seen a movie, you've seen Dearborn," the smartly designed Youth Center was opened on Nov. 5, 1959 after 15 years of planning and trying to obtain required 60% voter approval. Attractive, spacious (40,000 square feet) and completely air-conditioned, the appealing facility serves as the Hub of the World's finest recreation program. Its 96 x 150 foot Dome Room is a wonderful place for small conferences, shows and exhibits, big banquets, public meetings. Roller Skating and Dances. The building also has a modern snack bar; 16 ,meeting rooms, some with kitchens; five enclosed rooms equipped with color TV sets; a large games area, and free parking for 2,000 cars. |
