MAYPOLE
Frankenmuth, Michigan 48734
The "Maibaum" (Maypole) is adorned by 12 hand-
carved crests. The first two crests are of the City
of Frankenmuth and Gunzenhausen (Franken-
muth's Sister City in Germany). Remaining crests
are: Lumberman, Farmer, Butcher, Chef, Baker,
Miller, Spinning Lady, Carpenter, Blacksmith, and
Mason to represent occupations of past or present
residents. Maypoles flaunt entrances of many
Bavarian villages in Germany.
