THE ROOSEVELT DAM
The Roosevelt Dam is 80 miles from Phoenix
on the Apache Trail H'ghway, one of the best
known scenic roads in America. The Roosevelt
Dam is 299 feet high from the base to top of
spillway gates. It is 700 feet long on the top and
210 feet at the base. It forms a lake with an
area of 252 square miles and holds 1,637,300
acre feet of water. A large amount of hydro-
electric power is also developed which is used
for irrigating and for furnishing light and power
irrigates 240,000 acres of land in the Salt River
ARValley.
