Series 143 This majestic new railroad terminal occupies the entire block bounded by Jackson Boulevard, Adams Street, Canal and Clinton Streets, It furnished accommodations to four railroads, the Pennsylvania; Chicago, Burlington and Quincy; Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific, and the Chicago and Alton companies. The passenger station in itself is a massive rectangular edifice of white marble and with all improvements the total cost is about $65,000,000. |
