This saddle-shaped mountain may be seen across the desert from a distance of fifty miles in any direction. Highway 84 and the Southern pacific R. R. Skirt its base through Picacho Pass, the scene of Arizona's only Civil War battle. It is most colorful in the spring when its slopes are carpeted with yellow poppies and other desert wild flowers.
