The International Union of the American Republics is the outcome of an international American Conference held in 1889. Its prin- cipal aim is the cementing of ties of friend- ship, between the various Republics of the New World, to encourage the upbuilding of profitable trade relations between the United States and her Southern neighbors, and to bring about international co-operation for the best interests of all the republics. It was erected at a cost of $1,000,000, which was contributed by Mr. Andrew Carnegie and by the twenty-one American Nations including the United States. Pub. by W. B. Garrison, Inc., Washington, D.
