93. DESERT SCENE, ARIZONA.-The surface
of Arizona is a series of plateaus, ranging in
altitude from 80 to 7500 feet above sea level.
Dotting the plains are enormous mesas or table
lands. No part of the world has so rich a field
for archaelogical and ethnological investigations
as Arizona. It is a region of wonders and mys-
teries. Long buried dwellings and cities with
other ruins of an exceedingly ancient people
are being continually disclosed. One of the
grandest sights of the world-the Grand Can-
yon of the Colorado-is located in this territory.
