GRAND CANYON FROM PANORAMA POINT. The Grand
Canyon, which was first reported to the civilized world by
the Spanish explorers in 1540, is seen at its best at Panorama
Point where a turn in the gorge forms an immense amphi-
theatre of splendid towers and temples and cliffs. The trees
in the foreground of this picture, which appear like mere
bushes, are in reality more than 100 feet high in a majority
of cases
