OHIO'S LAKE ERIE VACATIONLAND
GLACIAL GROOVES, KELLEYS ISLAND LAKE ERIE, OHIO
These large grooves were scoured into the solid limestone
by glaciers some 30,000 years ago. The great ice sheet,
probably several hundreds of feet high, moved slowly
its tremendous weight, together with the rock and gravel
frozen in the ice, formed a giant cutting agent. This is
one of the outstanding examples of glacial grooves in
America,
