Series 2LD20 m.v. 'Teal' at Bowness pier, on Windermere in the English Lake District. The steamer is one of four operated by British Rail on the lake. Bowness was once a small fishing village on the east shore of Windermere and has now grown into the principal centre for tourists on the lake. Along the promenade there is a concentration of piers, boat-builders and chandlers. The narrow tortuous streets in Bowness are now lined by popular shops and eating houses |
