Birthplace Of Abraham Lincoln
"He is truly great who rises to the greatest heights from profound obscurity. Abraham Lincoln was born February 12, 1809, in Hardin County, now La Rue County, Kentucky, on a farm three miles from Hodgensville. The house in which lie was born was the ordinary one of the poorer Western pioneer-a one-roomed log cabin with a huge outside chimney, a single window and a rude door. The building was long ago torn down but the logs were saved, and recently the property was bought by New York people, who rebuilt the old cabin on the original site.
