John Brown's Tannery, Built 1826. For 20 years John Brown carried on the tanning business, a trade which he had learned from his father, and was fairly successful in it, but lost all his money in bad land speculations. He abandoned tanning, and in 1840 embarked in the wool trade. This building, since converted into a dwelling house, is at New Richmond, Crawford Co., Pa."
