The Bull. (Bos Taurus.) the Bull of the comon Ox, unlie the cow which is a very gentle creature, is often so savage that it is dangerous to enter a field where one is pasturing. For this reason Bulls are seldom seen in the open country; they are more often kept in stables. They are exceedingly powerful animals and it is necessary to put a ring through the nose, to which are attached the cords with which they are led by a man on each side. There are many different breeds varying considerably in size, colr, and general appearnce." |
