Fringed Gentian. Gentiana Elegans, Yellowstone
Park. Its name is from Gentius, King of Illyria,
who is credited with having first discovered its
medicinal virtue. It grows in profusion in the
low, moist meadows and in the vicinity of the
geyser basins.
