Additional Details:
When the sun has gone down there comes upon the desert a soft, suffusing light, the afterglow, which is its chiefest charm. The light fades slowly and with twilight comes the ever present purple haze, as indescribable as it is indefinite, that half-veils the horizon and tinges the middle distances. One forgets the dreary stretches of sand and alkali, the gleaming sun, the scorching wind, the thirsty vegetation that all belong to the desert, in the fascination of the first shadows of evening.
