The world's largest astronomical observa-
tory built at the cost of six million dollars,
will house the giant 200-inch mirror. The Palo-
mar site was chosen after seven years' in-
vestigation of fifteen different peaks in South-
ern California. Scientists from all parts of the
world will make up the personnel and ob-
servations will begin in 1940.
