GOLDEN GATE INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION
Stately palms beautify and pedestrian cross-
ings over motor lanes make safe, this main
entrance to the Golden Gate International
Exposition on Treasure Island in San Francisco
Bay. The stepped-pyramid "Elephant Towers"
guard the main portal and the 400 foot
Central Tower. Beyond the gateway, guarded
from troubled atmosphere by great vertical
"baffles", lies the magic city of this world's
Fair, distinctively new in its "Pacific" blend-
ing of old architectures with new utility.
