Lion, Philadelphia Zoo, Pa.
Back:
The Lion, often called the King of Beasts, 18130
scarcely deserves that title. It is exceeded in
size by the Tiger, and, when it comes to sheer
power combined with intelligence, the Elephant
stands at the head of the animal kingdom. The
Lions are fed at 3:00 P.M. each day, large speci
mens each receiving ten pounds of raw meat.
