The Tower

Series B-323, S-7103-2 Desert View Tower- Highway 80. When the pioneers pushed west they found the southwest desert a struggle for man and beast. When they arrived at the tower site they could look back over the sandy wastes. The idea for the tower was conceived by Bert L. Vaughn, who owned the nearby town of Jacumba, and wanted to build a memorial to those hardy souls who pioneered this route to the sea. In near-by-caves are weird creatures chisleled from granite boulders. The walls of the tower are four feet thick and has rocks in it from all countries of the world |
