Over 80 million dollars in gold was recovered from the Bodie Bluffs, discovered by Wm. S. Boday in 1859, and processed in the Standard Mills, the first, being of wood, burned in the 90’s, and was replaced from Gold recovered at the mills site. The Brother of President Hoover was superintendent of the mill, with the President having spent many of his younger days in the town, noted also in Mark Twain’s writings of Bodie, and Mane Lake, just 18 miles away |
