FORT St CATHERINE points to the reef where the
English galleon Sea Venture was wrecked in a gale
in 1609. Passengers and crew landed on the beach
below, establishing this Colony. Settlers built a
small fort here in 1614. The Government opened
this large fort, circa 1860, to the public in 1951.
