KONG CHOW TEMPLE
is San Francisco's oldest, where thousands of Chi-
nese worshipped for almost a century. Its interior
is sumptuous with gilded carving, golden scrolls.
enameled urns, bronze vases. embroideries, inlaid
teak tables, and statues. The altar, seated the
Shrines and spacious for several worship-parties
simultaneously, is of unusual Oriental beauty. Gow
Bui and Chim are symbolic signs for conducting
the Deities. The Temple's entrance leading through
a large court and fountain is, indeed, very en-
chanting.
