FACTS ABOUT ROYAL GORGE RAILWAY
World's steepest railway. Dedicated June 14,
1931. Length: 1,550 feet. Grade: 45 degrees
(100 percent.). Lower terminal at east end of
Hanging Bridge. Two cars capacity 21 pas-
sengers each. Weight of each car: 4,500 pounds.
Three cables with strength of 112,000 pounds.
Every phase of its operation is automatic, and
extraordinary precautions have been taken for
absolute safety and comfort.
