| Old Fort Loudon, located between Chattanooga and Knoxville, Tennessee. Built in 1756-1757, it was Great Britain's southeastern outpost in the French and Indian War, which gave England possession of the eastern half of North America. The Cherokee Indians besieged the fort in 1760 and starved the garrison into surrender. In the final days 25 men were killed and the rest taken prisoner |
